This shot was taken using a manual focus 50mm lens, on my D70.
With it being MF, the lightmeter doesn't work, and this is where the beauty of digital once again showed itself - the abilty to preview your shot. Using the histogram, I kept shooting until I felt the exposure was about right. I then set the shot up, and fired away.
Shot at either f/1.8, or f/2.8 (can't remember - EXIF info. says f/1.0, but that's due to the cameras inability to communicate with the lens). Focus fell exactly where I wanted it to, on the rock, rendering everything else quite blurry in the shallow DoF.
Had to make a quick leap to safety to avoid getting soaked.
