On a complete tangent, and truly awful note, the actor Heath Ledger has been found dead in his apartment.

Sources say that he's been found in his apartment surrounded by pills, but investigators aren't sure at this point whether the death was accidental or intentional.

Heath Ledger was fast turning into one of my favourite actors. He's always come across as a very likable guy, and though he's always been a good actor, he's blossomed over the last few years and looked set to become one of the great character actors, as indicated by his excellent turn in Brokeback Mountain.

The Dark Knight is probably my most eagerly awaited film of this year, and I'm thoroughly looking forward to see Ledger's turn as the Joker. It's so awful, though, that his performance will now take on the extra dimension as his last performance.

Such an awfully sad situation.
