Hi all,

Hope you are well. :)

It's always been my intention to 'upgrade' - so to speak - from my current individual website to something a bit more personal. The template site that I subscribe to is great, and whilst I've no plans to get rid of it immediately, I would like to put a site together that stands out a bit more.

I know that it has many detractors, but I'm quite a fan of simple flash based sites. Minimalism is a look that I think works with photography web sites very well, and it's down this direction that I would like to go.

I'm not actively recruiting anyone to build a website for me because, put quite simply, I cannot afford to pay anyone to do it. So, I'm wondering if anyone can point me in the direction of any good guides for building your own website? I'm no HTML master of anything, so even a program recommendation would be good as well. Any advice, basically, is most welcome.
